Established in the Catalan Country since 1998, our company offers outdoor sports activities, including canyoning, in the form of half-day trips, full-day excursions, weekend getaways, courses, and sports holidays.
Canyoning is open to everyone: adults, teenagers, children, associations, social organizations, works councils, and groups of friends of all levels. Instruction is provided by state-certified canyoning instructors with many years of experience.
Inextremis Aventura also collaborates with other providers, offering themed weekends and stays combining canyoning activities, accommodation, and meals in France and Catalonia, Spain. A true destination management company specializing in Catalan canyons, Inextremis Aventura organizes hen and stag parties, seminars, meetings, expeditions, incentive trips, and other sporting events.
Inextremis Aventura was born from a passion for traditional and extreme outdoor sports. Jean and Sabrina Villalongue, natives of Catalonia and Catalans by adoption, have, over the years, developed a series of outdoor trips with the best professionals in the industry to discover Catalonia as a whole, Corsica, a land of a thousand lights and landscapes, and Aragon, an unusual corner of Spain.
Jean Vilallongue – Canyon Instructor – AEM
A French state-certified mountaineering, Kayaking and canyoning instructor, your guide is one of the leading canyoning specialists in the Pyrénées-Orientales, and first and foremost, a canyoner himself.
Originally from Prats de Mollo la Preste in the Pyrénées-Orientales, he divides his time between his village, his travels, his work, and the mountains, which have been his home since his earliest childhood.
Passionate about this world, he began mountaineering at a very young age with his mother. He was quickly drawn to the vertical world and practiced climbing and mountaineering as far afield as the Andes, in Peru and Bolivia.
In 1983, accompanied by a fellow speleologist, he discovered the Catalan canyons. He became deeply involved in this activity, venturing to Sant Aniol d’Aguja in Catalonia at the age of 17 (where a single piton was already in place), a true expedition in those days when proper equipment was required before even attempting a descent.
He opened and participated in the development of the first canyons in the Pyrénées-Orientales region, in the Vallespir valley, and became one of the pioneers of this activity. The rest, as they say, is history! Numerous encounters with canyons in the French and Spanish Pyrenees and other destinations followed: the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, the Sierra de Guara, Corsica, the Alpes-Maritimes, and Peru, where, accompanied by a local guide, they opened and equipped a canyon in the Cusco region. All that remained was for him to share his passion and experience by training and obtaining his state-certified mountaineering instructor qualification and his state-certified canyoning instructor qualification. Initially responsible for ten years at the Prats de Mollo la Preste leisure center, he moved to Spain in 1998 to manage a multi-sports company. Returning in 2006, he once again settled in the Pyrénées-Orientales region as a self-employed professional. With 42 years of experience spent exploring the canyons of various regions in France and Spain, he has specialized since 1988 in the canyons of the southern and northern slopes of the Catalan Pyrenees, in his beloved homeland, the “Païs” where he was born and raised.
Still as passionate as ever about the subject, he served as president of GPC66 (Group of Canyoning Professionals of the Eastern Pyrenees) until 2016. There, he worked with the organization’s members and fellow professionals to develop a logistical and institutional plan for the activity, defending the interests of his colleagues in the Eastern Pyrenees. This also involved organizing the equipping, cleaning, and development of canyons. He hopes to see this activity included in the regional development plan as a PDSIE (Plan for the Development of the Environment and Sustainable Development) for future generations, aiming to make the region one of Europe’s leading high-quality destinations for canyoning and enabling professionals to work under optimal conditions.
